I have been growing parsnips in my garden for the last 25 years on a 3 year rotation. I have had canker in the past and recognise it. I also know what carrot root fly looks like. This year I have had a bumber crop of parsips but when cutting,, in food preparation my wife has come across a large white grub inside the parsnip root. it is about 5mm in diameter.

Any Ideas what it is?
