There is a widely held view that perpetual-flowering carnations should be grown in a greenhouse on their own, or at least have one part of the house reserved for them. I used to think the same myself but I have proved to my own satisfaction that they will grow perfectly well in association with pelargoniums, cinerarias and all the general run of cool greenhouse plants provided they are given plenty of light
